So, some catching up. Our Zoey is now five months plus one week! At her four month check up she finally broke in to double digits for weight!
She is seriously always happy. She loves loves watching football and baseball and totally adores the pups. She had her first taste of rice cereal the weekend shit turned four months. We attempted spoon feeding and after she spit out 99% of it, we ultimately decided she wasn't ready for spoons yet, so we put that off for a couple of weeks.
We also quit the swaddle cold turkey at four months. It was totally awesome the suckiest thing ever. The first few nights she was up literally every hour. It took us a solid two weeks before she was finally sleeping 3 straight hours at which time we would go in, rock her back to sleep and put her back down. Now, a month and a half later, she's finally going 4-6 hours at night before waking up to eat and quickly falling back asleep for a few more hours.
We waited until she was five months to introduce rice cereal again. She was totally ready. She swallowed 90% of it and we were stoked. I haven't noticed too much of a change in her sleeping patterns in relation to the rice cereal, however, I'm chalking that up to the fact that she's exclusively breastfed. Our excitement over rice cereal soon came to a screeching halt. If you're a mom you know every time you introduce something new to a baby's diet, their digestion gets all screwed up for a little while. Well, she eventually (probably) realized that the rice cereal was the culprit behind her constipation and refused it... so we now put a tablespoon in a bottle with 3oz of milk before bed then I nurse her until she falls asleep.
She didn't have a checkup at five months, but unofficially, she weighs about 14 pounds now.
She's starting to sit up on her own for a few seconds here and there and really only likes to be held if you are standing. She's still best buds with the pups (Barkley in particular) and fights with her whole being when it's time to go in the carseat.
I really still can't believe that she is already approaching her half birthday. Holy smokes does time fly!
